- 亜欧堂田善（またはその門人）が手がけた多くの銅版画の中で、もっとも人気を博したシリーズが、これらの小形江戸名所図です。北斎などの浮世絵風景版画の構図や上方の小型銅版画の流行に影響を与えた点でも重要な作品群です。田善の基準作『青蔭集』挿図にも通じる写実性と抽象化が同居する、緩急のメリハリの利いた表現が見られる点も大きな特徴です。現在25種類の図柄が確認されていて、そのうち神戸市立博物館は19種を所蔵しています。<br/><br/>【江戸の絵画】Among the many copperplate prints produced by Aoudo Tazen (or his students), the most popular series were these small Edo Meisho Zu (Edo Famous Places). These works are also important in that they influenced the composition of ukiyoe landscape prints by Hokusai and others, as well as the popularity of small copperplate engravings in the Kamigata region. Another important characteristic of these works is that they show a characteristic combination of realism and abstraction that can be seen in the illustrations of Denzen's standard work, "Seikage-shu.
