- 「和漢準源氏」は『源氏物語』の巻名にちなんだ和漢の武勇伝に登場する人物を描くシリーズです。本図は「三国妖狐図会」の天竺の３図のうち、悪逆の限りをつくした華陽夫人がついに悪狐の正体を見顕されて飛去る「華陽夫人老狐の本形を顕し東天に飛去る」と同じ場面です。典拠からあまり離れず国芳らしい闊達さに欠けた前作と変わって、同じ『画本玉藻譚』に拠りながら、過剰ともいえる洋風表現によって迫力ある作品となりました。<br/><br/>【江戸の絵画】The "Wahan Quasi-Genji" series depicts characters from the saga of the Japanese and Chinese dynasties, which are named after volumes of "The Tale of Genji". This painting is the same scene as "Mrs. Huayang flies away to the east after revealing the true form of the old fox," one of the three paintings of Tianzhu in "Sanguo yokubu zue" (The Three Kingdoms of the Foxes). <br/><br/>In contrast to the previous work, which did not stray too far from the source material and lacked Kuniyoshi's typical vigor, this work is based on the same "Gahon Tamo Tan" but is more powerful due to its Western-style expression, which could be said to be excessive. <br/><br/>Paintings of Edo
