- 作品解説: 寒々とした色彩に、どんよりとした曇り空、建物の煙突からの煙が棚引いているようで冬のパリの様子が伝わってくる。左手の煙突は下から見上げたような構図であるが、地上から見上げたようには見えず、建物の中層階から描いたものであろうか。具体的なモニュメントが描かれず、パリのどこにでもある風景として一般化されているがために身近に感じられるよう工夫がされているのではないだろうか。Description: The cold colors, overcast sky, and the smoke from the chimneys of the buildings seem to be shelving, conveying a winter scene of Paris. The chimney on the left is composed as if looking up from below, but it does not appear to be looking up from the ground, suggesting that it was painted from the middle floor of the building. The lack of specific monuments and the generalization of the scene as one that can be found anywhere in Paris may have been an attempt to make the viewer feel familiar with the city.
