- 作品解説: 小室翠雲37,8歳、比較的初期の作品。瀟湘八景で知られる中国の名勝、洞庭湖を描いている。画面中央には遠くの山々と水平線、手前の突き出た岩上には不安定に建つ楼閣、安定感と緊張感が同居する構図となっている。高士などの人物はここでは描かれておらず、手前の木々は紅葉し、水鳥が連なって飛ぶ、少し寂しさを感じさせる晩秋の穏やかな風景である。水色の絵具が遠くの山や、洞庭湖水面の波、それに崖に茂る葉に効果的に用いられている。Description: A relatively early work by Suiun Komuro, age 37.8. This painting depicts Lake Dongting, a famous scenic spot in China, known as one of the Eight Sceneries of Elegance. In the center of the painting are the distant mountains and horizon line, and in the foreground is a tower precariously erected on a protruding rock, creating a composition in which stability and tension coexist. The trees in the foreground are covered with autumn leaves, and waterfowl are flying in a line, creating a peaceful late-autumn scene that evokes a sense of loneliness. Light blue paint is used effectively on the distant mountains, the waves on the surface of Lake Dongting, and the leaves on the cliffs.
