- 作品解説: 幻の画家といわれた笠木治郎吉は、近年その作品がアメリカなどで見つかり里帰りを果たしている。石川県に生まれたとされ、横浜で活動。作品は外国人が土産物として購入したこと、下絵類が関東大震災で焼失したことから、長らく作品を見る機会がなかった。雲の流れと呼応して娘の頭巾が棚引いている。その背後で働く漁師たちの様子も克明に描かれ、手を抜くところがないが、それでも水彩画としての新鮮さを失わない。作品には紙による裏打ちがされており、裏面にはほら貝を吹く女性の姿の跡が残っている。これらはいつの頃かは不明だが裏打ち後に重ねて保管されていたようだ。Description: Jirokichi Kasagi was said to be a phantom painter, but in recent years his works have been found in the United States and other countries, and he has returned to his hometown. He is said to have been born in Ishikawa Prefecture and lived in Yokohama. His works were purchased by foreigners as souvenirs, and his preparatory sketches were destroyed by fire in the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. The daughter's cape is shelving in response to the flow of clouds. The fishermen working in the background are clearly depicted, and no corners have been cut, but the painting still retains its freshness as a watercolor. The work is backed with paper, and on the reverse side, there are traces of a woman blowing a conch shell. It is not known when this was done, but it appears to have been kept in storage on top of the back of the painting.
