- 作品解説: 朝陽に穏やかな波を描いた掛軸は、慶祝の席などでよく使用され、多くの画家による作品が残されている。神聖な始まりを向かえる朝日が本作も大きく描かれているが、色調は落ち着いているため威厳さえも感じさせている。《華厳宗祖師絵伝（華厳縁起）》の波のようにジグザグと鋸歯状に展開され模様化されているがゆえに、穏やかな日がいつまでも続くという願いが込められた表現となっているようである。Description: Hanging scrolls depicting the morning sun and gentle waves are often used for celebratory occasions, and many painters have left works of this style. This work, too, depicts a large sunrise at the beginning of a sacred day, but the colors are subdued, giving the work an air of dignity. The zigzag pattern of the waves, like the waves in the "Kegon Shu Soden (Kegon Engi)," seems to express the hope that the peaceful day will last forever.
