- 作品解説: 犬山城を北側から捉えて描いている。手前には天然の堀の機能を果たした木曽川が流れ、柏亭は北岸である美濃国側から尾張国を眺めていることになる。城といえば 1918 （大正 7） 年に松本城を描いているが、いずれも手前に水の情景を配しており、城を描きたい欲求だけでなく上下さかさまに映る水面の表情に惹かれたのであろう。サインのところに「早春」とある通り、他の柏亭作品に見られるメリハリは意図的に抑えられ春霞をともなった抒情的な風景画に仕上げられている。Description: This painting depicts Inuyama Castle from the north. The Kiso River, which functions as a natural moat, flows in the foreground, and Kashiwa-tei is looking at Owari Province from the northern bank of the river, the Mino Province side. Speaking of castles, he painted Matsumoto Castle in 1918, both with water scenes in the foreground, and it is likely that he was attracted not only by the desire to depict a castle but also by the expression of the water surface reflected upside down. As the artist's signature states "Early Spring," the crispness seen in other Kashiwatei works is intentionally suppressed to create a lyrical landscape painting with a springtime haze.
