- 作品解説: 柳の周囲を雀が楽しそうに飛翔し、その下でも水鳥 （イソシギ・磯鴫） が右脚を上げながら囀 （さえず） っている。生命を謳歌する作品のように見える。雀は中国では「爵」と発音が近く、高級官僚を意味することもあり、多く集まる様は、にぎわいのある華やかなイメージがあった。ここでの雀の描写が写実的ではなく様式化されているところにも秀畝のこだわりがうかがえる。Description: A sparrow soars happily around a willow tree, while a waterfowl chirps beneath it, raising its right leg. It looks like a work celebrating life. The Chinese word for sparrow, which is pronounced like "baron," also means a high-ranking official, and the sight of so many sparrows gathered together gives the image of a lively and festive place. The depiction of sparrows here is stylized rather than realistic, which shows Shuho's attention to detail.
