- ここに描かれているのは、現在の福島県須賀川市と玉川村の境、阿武隈川が乙字型に蛇行する急流部の風景で、今日でもこの図とほぼ同じ風景を現地で見ることができます。<br/><BR/>本図の表題は「芭蕉翁碑」、つまり画面左方に辛うじて見出される小さな石碑です。これは、本図が掲載されている歌集『青蔭集』の編者で、須賀川の俳人・石井考雨が文化10年(1813)に建立したもの。かつてこの地を訪れた芭蕉の心境を追体験するかのような光景で、亜欧堂田善による銅版風景画の基準作です。<br/><br/>【江戸の絵画】The landscape depicted here is of the rapids where the Abukuma River meanders in the shape of an otogi, on the border between Sukagawa City and Tamagawa Village in present-day Fukushima Prefecture. <BR/><BR/>The title of this map is "Basho Monument," a small stone monument barely visible on the left side of the image. This monument was erected in 1813 by the Sukagawa haiku poet Ishii Kōyu, the editor of the poem anthology "Aoinshū," on which this illustration is based. The scene seems to relive the mind of Basho, who once visited this area, and is a standard work of copperplate landscape painting by Aoudo Tazen. <br/><br/>[Painting in Edo
