- 作品解説: ローマ帝国のシンボルであるコロッセオ。村上はこの建物を至近距離から、しかも低い視点でとらえようとしている。地面が丘のようになだらかな曲線を描いているが、それがためにコロッセオの立体感やまとまりは破綻している。夜のような暗い背景の中でこの建造物の骨組みのようなものが抽出され浮かびあがる。何とも不気味である。Description: The Colosseum is a symbol of the Roman Empire. Murakami attempted to capture this building from a close distance and from a low point of view. The ground is gently curved like a hill, but this breaks up the three-dimensionality and cohesiveness of the Colosseum. Against the dark, night-like background, something like the framework of this structure is extracted and emerges. It is eerie.
