- 作品解説: 官庁街である東京千代田区の内幸町。明治時代には同地に鹿鳴館が建てられ、ちょうど今西が描いたこの年に建物が取り壊された。後ろに見える尖塔は、戦災で消失した大審院であろう。ちなみに当館所蔵の《藤棚のある風景》と制作年月日が同じである。スケッチブックを片手に東京の町を散策したのであろう。色彩は茶褐色で統一されている。Description: Uchisaiwaicho in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward, a government office district. In the Meiji period (1868-1912), the Rokumeikan was built there, and was demolished in the same year that Imanishi painted this work. The spire in the background is probably the Grand Inquisition, which was destroyed in the war. Incidentally, the date of production is the same as that of "Landscape with Wisteria Shelf," which is in the museum's collection. The artist must have strolled around Tokyo with a sketchbook in hand. The colors are uniformly brown.
