- 作品解説: 現在の新潟県柏崎市の番神海水浴場付近から西側に広がる鯨波の海岸が描かれている。右へ長く突き出た半島は鴎 （かもめ） が鼻で、その先には弁天岩も描かれている。そして、その背後には旗持城城跡のある城山が青い絵具で塗られている。鉛筆で山の輪郭などを簡単に描いた跡が残っているが、画面右端には窓枠の鉛筆線が消されているのが確認できる。12 ㎜ほど右側へ拡張されているが、風景の広がる感じがこの拡張でかなり印象が異なる。画面が汚れることよりも風景の広がりに重きを置いた三宅の作画姿勢が伺える。Description: This painting depicts the coast of Whalenami, which stretches westward from near the present Banjin Beach in Kashiwazaki City, Niigata Prefecture. The long peninsula jutting out to the right is the seagull's nose, and Benten Iwa (Benten Rock) is depicted beyond it. Behind it, the ruins of Hatamochi Castle are painted in blue. The pencil line of the window frame has been erased at the right edge of the image, and the expansion of the landscape by 12mm to the right gives a very different impression. This expansion gives a very different impression of the expanse of the landscape. It is evident that Miyake placed more importance on the expanse of the landscape than on the dirtiness of the screen.
