- 作品解説: 本作は四隅に画鋲で差した小さな穴があり、現地で写生後アトリエ等であらためて木枠に張りこんだものと思われる。道路沿いの木々の間から見える十和田湖。実際には手前は木陰でもう少し暗い空間であったかもしれないが、明暗のコントラストの高い劇的な表現は避けたかったのだろうか。筆の素早さや異なる色の絵具の混ざり具合を観察する限り、一日で仕上げたのではないかと思われるが、空間構成など、どのように表したいかをしっかりと見定めて描かれている。Description: This work has small holes in the four corners, which were made by rivets, and it is thought that the artist sketched the work on site and reattached it to a wooden frame in his studio or elsewhere. Lake Towada seen through the trees along the road. In reality, the space in the foreground may have been a little darker in the shade of the trees, but perhaps the artist wanted to avoid a dramatic expression with high contrasts of light and dark. Judging from the quickness of the brushstrokes and the mixing of different colors of paint, the painting was probably completed in a single day, but it was done with a clear view of the spatial composition and how it was to be expressed.
