- 作品解説: 款記によると、本作は繍水草堂において描かれたとあるから、明治24年、区画整理のために東京の家を売り払い成田村上川上（現在の埼玉県熊谷市）に隠棲して以降の時期の作ということになる。 川は近くを流れていた利根川のイメージであろうか。 中程度の太さの筆を多用し、何物にも囚われない自由な心持が伝わってくる。奥原晴湖と野口小蘋は、明治時代の女流南画家の双璧といわれた。Description: According to the inscription, this work was painted at Shusuisodo, which means that it was created in 1894, after he sold his house in Tokyo for rezoning and moved to Narita Murakami Kawakami (present-day Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture). The river is probably an image of the Tone River, which used to flow nearby. The brush strokes are of medium thickness, and the work conveys a free spirit unencumbered by anything. Okuhara Haruko and Noguchi Shohin are considered to be two of the greatest female nanga artists of the Meiji era.
