- 作品解説: 堤防からの写生であろうか。帆船はすこし高い位置から見下ろし、そのむこうには島、青い空には入道雲が発生している。素早い筆致で、細部を描きこまずに組み立てられているため、近くでみると大まかに描かれているように見えるが、少し離れてみると帆船などは写実的で存在感がある。この勢いのある大まかでありながら的確な筆致は、イギリスの風景画家コンスタブルに通じる熟達した技術を感じさせ、この時期の山本鼎の充実ぶりをうかがうことができる。Description: This may have been painted from an embankment. The sailboat is looking down from a slightly elevated position, with the island in the foreground and the blue sky filled with clouds. The painting is composed with quick brush strokes and without detail, so that the painting appears to be rough when viewed up close, but from a distance, the sailboats and other objects are realistic and have a strong presence. The vigorous, broad, yet precise brushstrokes show a mastery of technique similar to that of the English landscape painter Constable, and give us a glimpse into the fullness of Yamamoto Ting at this time in his career.
