The APJ Japanese–English Bilingual Glossary (APJ Glossary) is now available

We are pleased to announce the publication of the APJ Japanese–English Bilingual Glossary (approximately 300 terms), a Japanese–English glossary of specialized terminology related to art.

The glossary was developed to provide guidance in selecting appropriate English translations for specialized terminology in the field of art that often presents challenges in translation from Japanese into English, with the aim of promoting international understanding of modern and contemporary Japanese art. In particular, it includes terms associated with contexts specific to modern and contemporary art, such as art organizations, institutional systems, and exhibitions.

As a foundational resource supporting research, criticism, and communication related to Japanese art through the lens of translation, the glossary will continue to be expanded and revised on an ongoing basis.
