Web Accessibility Policy

The National Center for Art Research (NCAR) strives to ensure the accessibility of the Art Platform Japan (APJ) website so that it can be used reliably and smoothly by diverse users.
These efforts are intended to bring the website into conformance with level AA of Japan Industrial Standards (JIS) X 8341-3:2016 “Guidelines for designing with older persons and people with disabilities in mind – Information and communications equipment, software, and services – Part 3: Web content.”

Scope

The policy applies to the web pages of the Art Platform Japan (APJ) website domain (https://artplatform.go.jp/ja).

Targeted conformance level & degree of conformance

Conformance with level AA of JIS X 8341-3:2016*

*Conformance as defined in “JIS X 8341-3:2016 Compliance Level Indication Guidelines for Web Content, April 2021 Edition” published by the Web Accessibility Infrastructure Committee of the Info-communication Access Council.

Actions for ensuring web accessibility

Actions taken in FY2023

  • Web accessibility issues were identified and sorted through four reviews conducted by diverse disability stakeholders (two in August 2023, two in March 2024).
  • Revisions were made to the website’s design based on the findings of the above-mentioned reviews, and their implementation was re-examined.
  • A web accessibility policy was formulated and published on the website.

Actions planned for FY2024

  • Test the website’s conformance with JIS X 8341-3:2016, and publish the results on the website.
  • Revise the website accessibility policy based on the test results.
  • Make further design revisions based the findings of the FY2023 reviews and re-examine their implementation.
  • Have diverse disability stakeholders review the website, and use their feedback to maintain and enhance the website’s accessibility.
