It is a portrait of Yasuhide Yamamoto, a stage actor who performed at the Tsukiji Little Theater in Tokyo and other venues. - Eiko Yamazawa, who studied photography in the U.S. in the 1920s and started out as a portrait woman photographer upon her return to Japan, was recognized for her skills by Osaka business people and expanded her clientele, becoming known as a "professional woman. Notable portrait work from this period includes a photograph of the stage actor Yasuhide Yamamoto in costume. After being forced to dissolve the theater company he belonged to due to the suppression of his ideology, Yamazawa joined a study group at his home in Sendagaya, Tokyo, with other young theater professionals to take photographs to document the group. These photos were sent to Yamamoto's supporters.
