「横山操」『日本美術年鑑』昭和49･50年版(251-255頁)日本画家横山操は、4月1日脳卒中のため東京都調布市の慈恵医大附属病院で死去した。享年53歳。大正9年1月25日新潟県西蒲原郡に生れ、川端画学校日本画科に学んだ。昭和15年第12回青竜展に「渡船場」が初入選したが、この年応召し、終戦までの5年間中国各地を一兵卒として歩いた。戦後さらに5年間のシベリア抑留生活をつづけ、25年復員した。翌年の青竜展で画生活に戻り、「塔」「熔鉱炉」「炎々桜島」などの大作を...
