The initials "N.A." on the work indicate that it was painted after her marriage to the Asakamiya family. It is also inscribed with the year "1924," which suggests that it was painted when she went to Europe to care for King Hatohiko, who had an accident during her stay in France. According to the record of her expenditures during her stay in Europe, it is known that Princess Yashiko received instruction in watercolor painting from the sculptor Blanchot during this period, and this document may have been produced as a part of such instruction.
