Five circular dishes with unglazed vessel bodies covered with white glazed clay and painted with blue and yellow colored glazes. This is one of a group of works known as "Arandasashi," which was inspired by tin-glazed Delft ceramics. The design is lovely, with a star-like floral motif on the prospective surface and blue and yellow dots around it. The inscription on the box reads "Teshio" (salt), suggesting that it was used as a salt dish (a small dish for serving salt or incense). The reverse side shows three marks and an inscription in color "Michihachi" in the center, which suggests that it was made by Niami Michihachi (1783-1855), a potter active in Kyoto at the beginning of the 19th century.
