Among the many copperplate engravings by Aoudo Tazen (or his students), the most popular series were these small-scale views of famous places in Edo. These works are important in that they influenced the composition of ukiyoe landscape prints by Hokusai, Kuniyoshi, and others, as well as the popularity of small copperplate engravings in the Kamigata region, and are characterized by their loose and sharp expression in which realism and abstraction coexist. There are currently 25 known prints, 19 of which are in the collection of the Kobe City Museum.

[Edo Paintings
