- 大舜は彼を憎み殺そうとまでした父母弟に孝行を尽くします。その徳によって、彼が耕す地には象や鳥が来て助け、終には帝の位を譲られたという説話です。２頭の象の配置や丸いふたつの頂が特徴的な遠景の山など、全体の構図は『東西海陸紀行』挿絵中のごく小さい部分から構成し、「扉絵」から象をとりだして反転し作品の中心に据え、さらに別の図版からとりだした象を右に描いて、孝行の徳を象徴する巨象のイメージを強調します。<BR/><br/><br/>【江戸の絵画】Dasyun devoted himself to filial piety to his parents and younger brother, who hated him and even tried to kill him. The overall composition, including the arrangement of the two elephants and the mountains in the distance with their rounded peaks, is composed from a very small section of the illustration of "East-West Sea-Land Travels". The elephant taken from a different illustration is placed at the center of the work, and the image of the giant elephant symbolizing the virtue of filial piety is emphasized by depicting an elephant taken from another illustration on the right. <BR/><BR/><BR/><BR/>[Edo Paintings
