Among the many copperplate prints produced by Aoudo Tazen (or his students), the most popular series were these small Edo Meisho Zu (Edo Famous Places). These works are also important in that they influenced the composition of ukiyoe landscape prints by Hokusai and others, as well as the popularity of small copperplate engravings in the Kamigata region. They are characterized by a combination of realism and abstraction that is similar to the illustrations in Denzen's standard work "Seikage-shu" (Blue Shade Collection). Currently, 25 types of designs have been identified, of which 19 are in the collection of the Kobe City Museum.

There is a small mountain called Mt. Nowadays, the mountain is so thickly overgrown with trees that one cannot see the entire city of Tokyo, but 200 years ago, this was a place like Suwayama Park in Kobe. Originally, this work was a set of two panoramic views of the city of Edo looking down from Mt. The left half of the painting shows only a glimpse of Edo Bay and the Takanawa-Shiba area, but the description at the top of the painting indicates that Denizen observed each building in detail from this vantage point.

[Edo Paintings
