- 北斎は浮世絵師の中では、美人画をあまり描きませんでした。しかもどのような主題でも続き物は少なく、本作のような５枚続きは他に例がありません。ボストン美術館などにも所蔵例がありますが、神戸市立博物館本は紫色などの発色が美しく、抜群の保存状態で伝世した貴重な例です。かなり大きな吉原の遊郭の内部が詳細に描かれ、右上の出入口に暖簾らしきものがかかっていて、この妓楼の名前が記されているようですが、残念ながら判読できません。ただ、鳥居清長「新吉原江戸町二丁目丁子屋之図」と共通する室内調度が見られることから江戸町の丁子屋の可能性もあります。<br/><br/>【江戸の絵画】Hokusai did not paint many ukiyoe beauties. Moreover, Hokusai rarely painted a series of paintings on any subject, and there is no other example of a series of five paintings like this one. The Kobe City Museum's copy is a rare example of this work, which has been preserved in excellent condition and is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The interior of a rather large brothel in Yoshiwara is depicted in detail, and a noren-like curtain hanging over the upper right doorway seems to indicate the name of the brothel, but unfortunately it is illegible. Unfortunately, the name of the brothel is illegible. However, it is possible that this brothel was located in Edo-machi, as the interior furnishings are similar to those in Torii Kiyonaga's "Shin-Yoshihara Edomachi 2-chome Choshi-ya no Zu". <br/><br/>[Painting in Edo
