- 明治天皇の生母。宛先の中山忠能は父であり新政府の議定職首席でもある。<BR/> この頃は国家の浮沈をかけた大改革のさなかであり、父、子、公家衆を案じる気持ちと、目まぐるしく変わる周辺の様子に戸惑う様が三・五メートルを超える長き手紙に現れている。掲載外の箇所には、(天皇は)無邪気張りばかり強くなられ、ついには天下に悪名を残すようなことになりはしないか・・・、公家さえも色々な服装で勤務されている・・・これまで通り正装でお勤めになるよう御取りはからい願い入れます・・・、(下級の役人は)皆免職となったよし・・・どうぞどうぞ人の困るような取り計らいはなされぬよう願います・・・。などの内容が記されている。<BR/> なお、書状が出されたおよそ四ヶ月後の九月八日に明治に改元される。<BR/>(『名筆へのいざない―深遠なる書の世界―』海の見える杜美術館２０１２ 解説より)Birth mother of Emperor Meiji. The recipient, Nakayama Tadanoh, was his father and the chief of the new government's protocol office. <BR/> At this time, the Emperor was in the midst of major reforms that would determine the ups and downs of the nation, and his concern for his father, son, and court nobles, as well as his bewilderment at the rapidly changing circumstances around him, are expressed in this long letter (over 3.5 meters long). In an unpublished part of the letter, the emperor is concerned that his growing innocence may finally give him a bad name in the world, and that even the nobles are working in different styles of dress. .
