- 19世紀末から世紀初頭にかけて活躍したガラス工芸家ドーム兄弟によるガラス製シェード（傘部）と、同時代の鍛鉄工芸家ルイ・カトナによる脚部の組み合わせによるテーブル・ランプである。20世紀初頭にパリの街中に本格的な電気供給が開始されると、発明王エジソンによって19世紀末に実用化を果たしていた白熱電球との組み合わせによる電気照明が、徐々に日常生活にも普及し始めた。当時としては最先端のテクノロジーを駆使した照明器具は、本作品が発表された20年代半ばにおいてはまだまだ高級品であり、名だたる工芸家たちが意匠を凝らしたランプは、美術作品に準じるものとして扱われていた。本作品は、ドームによる幾何学的な装飾が施された斬新なデザインの傘部に、ルイ・カトナによるエレガントな脚部が組み合わされたユニークな形態を有しており、装飾性と革新性の両面を兼ね備えたアール・デコ期の装飾の特徴を端的に示している。This table lamp is a combination of a glass shade (umbrella) by the Dome brothers, glass craftsmen active from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, and a leg by Louis Katona, a wrought iron craftsman of the same period. The electric lighting combined with incandescent lamps, which had been put into practical use at the end of the 19th century by Edison, the king of inventors, gradually began to spread in daily life. Lamps designed by famous craftsmen were considered to be equivalent to works of art. This work has a unique form that combines a novel umbrella design with geometric decoration by Dome and elegant legs by Louis Katona, clearly demonstrating the characteristics of Art Deco period decoration, which was both decorative and innovative.
