- ロシア出身で、パリで活躍した画家アレクサンドル・ヤコヴレフは、「アール・デコ」の代表的画家の一人として評価されている。公式画家として自動車メーカーのシトロエン主催の自動車によるアフリカ縦断旅行「クロワジエ・ノワール」、アジア横断旅行「クロワジエ・ジョーヌ」の両方に帯同し、それぞれの記録画を作成した。本書は「クロワジエ・ノワール」の記録画集であり、1927年に750部限定で出版された。No.260のエディション番号が振られている。画家のアカデミックな技術を下地にした、ダイナミックなリアリズムが良くあらわれてた最も知られた作品集でもある。これらのシトロエンによる探検旅行は、両大戦間期のヨーロッパにおける異国文化に対する興味を象徴する重要なトピックである。Alexander Yakovlev, a Russian-born painter active in Paris, is regarded as one of the leading "Art Deco" painters. As an official painter, he accompanied both the "Croisieres Noirs," an automobile trip across Africa organized by the automobile manufacturer Citroën, and the "Croisieres Journeys" across Asia, and made record paintings of each. This book, a collection of record drawings from the "Croisieres Noirs," was published in 1927 in a limited edition of 750 copies, numbered No. 260. It is the best-known collection of the artist's academic skills and dynamic realism. These explorations by Citroën are an important topic that symbolizes the European interest in foreign cultures during the interwar years.
