- 作品解説: パリを流れるセーヌ川よりも北の地域（右岸）は高台になっている地域があり、このベルビルも公園からはパリ市内が一望できる。村上はこの雑踏の中をイーゼルを立てて油絵を描いたのか、あるいはスケッチをしてホテルで油絵にしたのだろうか。建物や人物など、それぞれのかたちが崩れ、破綻しそうになりながら、かろうじて留まっているところに絵画のダイナミズムを感じさせる。Description: Some areas north of the Seine River (right bank), which flows through Paris, are elevated, and this Belleville also has a panoramic view of the city of Paris from the park. Did Murakami set up his easel in this crowded area and paint in oil, or did he make sketches and then paint in oil at the hotel? The dynamism of the painting can be felt in the fact that each of the shapes of the buildings and figures are crumbling and almost collapsing, yet they are barely holding together.
