- 作品解説: パリの最も高いところ、モンマルトルの丘に位置するサクレクール寺院は、白い建物のイメージが強い。たしかに、村上が描くこの寺院にも白色の絵具が用いられているが、それは一部分のみであり、それ以外の部分は黒または暗褐色で構成されている。さらには、高い場所に建てられているというイメージも反映されておらず、本作は固定観念に囚われたものの見方を否定してくれている。Description: Located on Montmartre Hill, the highest point in Paris, the Sacré Coeur Temple has a strong image of a white building. Indeed, white paint is also used in Murakami's painting of this temple, but only in one part, and the rest of the painting is composed of black or dark brown. Furthermore, it does not reflect the image of being built on a high place, and this work refutes the stereotypical view of things.
