Description: The rising morning sun, the evergreen pines, and the wagtail flying among the trees are probably wagtails. In the Chronicles of Japan, wagtails are said to have been involved in the creation of the land by Izanagi and Izanami, and this work seems to have been entrusted with a meaning of prosperity for their offspring. The fresh air of a slightly misty morning and the sense of perspective are expressed through the use of light ink and paint applied from the reverse side of the silk ground, all done with delicate ingenuity.
