Description: Born the eldest son of the chief priest of the Kumano Wakaoji Shrine in Kyoto, Ito Yoshihiko was a painter active in Kyoto from the early days of Western-style painting. His watercolor paintings, some in a pointillist style, seem to have been the result of various trials and errors. In this work, the artist has used a variety of techniques, such as vertical parallel lines on the surface of the water, for each material, and has achieved a high degree of uniformity throughout the work. Katsumi Miyake, a young man, was taken care of in Kyoto.
