- 作品解説: 手前には赤土色の土坡に花が咲き、その色彩と呼応するかのように海の色が緑色を呈している。穏やかな波に突堤の向こうは光が差して輝いている。裏書によると、熊岡は従軍画家として当時日本の占領地となっていた厦門を訪れたようである。裏面に残されたプレートから、海軍将校高須四郎による頒恩賜 （わかつおんし・上官から部下へ贈る品）とのことである。高須は1944年に海軍大将となった人物で、中学校も同じく土浦中学校であったことから、同郷の 5 歳年下の熊岡ともつながりがあったのだろう。Description: In the foreground, flowers bloom on the red clay-colored Dupo, and the color of the sea is green, as if in response to the color of the flowers. The light shines across the jetty on the gentle waves. According to the inscription on the back, Kumaoka visited Xiamen, which was then under Japanese occupation, as a military painter. A plaque on the reverse indicates that it was a gift from Shiro Takasu, a naval officer, to his subordinate. Takasu became a naval general in 1944, and since his junior high school was also Tsuchiura Junior High School, he must have had a connection with Kumaoka, who was five years younger than him and from the same hometown.
