- 作品解説: タイトルから神奈川県三浦郡葉山町の海岸であることがわかる。しかし余分な題材を排除しているばかりか、空気遠近法や立体感、陰影も見当たらない。ひと塗りで描いたような平面性を持ちながら、実は下の層にグレーや茶色などを忍ばせていたり、厚塗り部分があったりと、絵具の可能性を熟知している。油絵発祥の地である西洋の美術をくぐり抜けて獲得した菅野のセンスは現代においても十分通用する新しさがある。Description: The title of this work indicates that it is a beach in Hayama-cho, Miura-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture. However, not only is the work devoid of superfluous subject matter, but it is also devoid of air perspective, three-dimensionality, and shading. The work has the flatness of a single coat of paint, but in fact, the artist is well versed in the possibilities of paint, as evidenced by the gray, brown, and other colors that creep into the underlying layers, as well as the thickly coated areas. Sugano's sense of style, which he acquired through his experience in Western art, the birthplace of oil painting, has a novelty that is fully applicable even today.
