- 作品解説: 画面の下には川が流れ、向こう岸の土坡の上には民家が見える。水禽とそれらを連れて家に戻る男が画面のほぼ中央に配され、一日の作業を終える夕暮れ時の静かな抒情を感じさせる画である。木島桜谷は中国の文人画の世界を日本の風景に移し替えたような、より日本人に親近感を抱かせる画の創造性が、近年多くの美術館等で注目されている。Description: A river flows beneath the painting, and houses can be seen on the bank of the Dupa. The water fowl and the man returning home with them are placed roughly in the center of the painting, evoking the quiet lyricism of dusk as the day's work comes to an end. Kijima-Sakuraya's creativity, which seems to have transposed the world of Chinese literati painting into the Japanese landscape, and which makes his paintings more familiar to Japanese people, has attracted the attention of many art museums in recent years.
