- 作品解説: 二羽の燕が波涛の上をじゃれ合うように飛んでいる。狩野探幽が描いた墨画《波濤群燕図》（常盤山文庫）は複数の燕が波涛の上を飛び、燕の変化に富むアングルが見られるなど共通点も多いが、秀畝の燕はまだ巣立ってそれほど経ていない子の燕のように見える。表装とともに、夏の爽やかさを感じさせる画である。Description: Two swallows are flying over the waves as if to play with each other. Kano Tanyu's ink painting "Wave Swallows" (Tokiwanzan Bunko) has many similarities in that it shows multiple swallows flying over the waves, and the varied angles of the swallows, but Shumo's swallows appear to be young, not long out of the nest. Together with the cover, this painting evokes the freshness of summer.
