- 作品解説: 蓬莱山は中国の伝説上の神山で、渤海の東方にあって、玉や金銀の宮殿が建ち、飛天や仙人が住む霊地であるとされている。神仙思想や吉祥の画題として古より描かれ、そこに松や鶴や亀が添えられ、時には楼閣や仙人が配される。本作品にも常緑で長寿をも象徴する松と、恵まれた徳と能力を有するといわれる鶴が二羽描かれている。いずれもお目出度い画題としてもてはやされた。右上から左下に傾斜する山の稜線にあわせて松や鶴が適切に配置されている。Description: Mount Penglai is a legendary Chinese divine mountain, located east of the Bohai Sea, where palaces of jade, gold, and silver are built and where flying heavenly beings and hermits dwell. It has long been depicted as a subject of divine and auspicious paintings, with pine trees, cranes and turtles, sometimes with pavilions and hermits. This work also depicts a pine tree, which is evergreen and symbolizes longevity, and two cranes, which are said to be blessed with virtues and abilities. Both were highly praised as auspicious subjects. The pine tree and cranes are appropriately placed along the mountain ridge that slopes from upper right to lower left.
