- 作品解説: 墨の濃淡を生かして、一気に描き進めた本作は、緊張感と大らかさが同居している。《老圃秋容図》といえば、中国清時代の画家で日本の絵師に多大な影響を与えた沈南蘋（しんなんぴん）が日本滞在中に描いた作（1731年、静嘉堂文庫美術館蔵）が有名で、本作も岩肌の表現など、この作品が年頭に置かれた可能性が高い。三重県立美術館には色彩豊かな同じ題名の翠雲作品があり、水墨画と彩色画のどちらも創作上重要視していたところが興味深い。Description: This work, painted in a single stroke using shades of ink, combines tension and panache. The painting "Laobo Autumn View" (1731, Seikado Bunko Art Museum collection), painted during a stay in Japan by Chinese Qing dynasty painter Shen Nanping, who greatly influenced Japanese painters, is well known, and it is highly likely that this work, with its rock surface, was also painted at the beginning of the year. The Mie Prefectural Art Museum has a colorful Suiun work of the same title, and it is interesting to note that Suiun considered both ink and color painting important in his creative process.
