- 作品解説: 岡田三郎助は川や湖の土坡に木々がある風景を好んで描いた。信州やローマ郊外などその場所は様々である。地面の傾斜は画面に変化をもたらすことがその好んだ理由のひとつであろう。ただ、そこに植わったどの木々も、まるで水辺を眺めている高士のような趣があり、風景画でありながら木々が擬人化されているように見えはしないだろうか。本作は粗目のキャンヴァスの織り目を活かしながら春の淡い空気感を見事に表している。Description: Sabrosuke Okada loved to paint landscapes with trees on the banks of rivers and lakes. He painted in a variety of locations, including Shinshu and the suburbs of Rome. One of the reasons for this preference may be that the slope of the ground brings a sense of change to the painting. However, the trees planted there all look as if they are Takamashi looking out over the water, and although they are landscapes, the trees seem anthropomorphic. This work, while utilizing the weave of the coarse-grained canvas, beautifully expresses the light air of spring.
