- 作品解説: 古写真と本作とを比較すると、手前吊り橋の主ケーブルの付け根位置が異なっている。現地で写生したのちアトリエなどで仕上げたのか、小さな写真などを手元に置きながら描いた可能性もある。裏面に銀砂子が施された厚紙に描かれていることも、日本での制作を示唆する。塔の大きさが小さく変更されたことが鉛筆による素描跡や水による拭き取り跡などでわかり、塔の存在感を少し弱めてでも、景色の広がりを強調する方向に構図が変更されたようである。Description: Comparing this work with an old photograph, the position of the base of the main cable of the suspension bridge in the foreground is different from that of the old photograph. It is possible that the artist sketched the bridge there and then finished it in his studio, or that he kept a small photograph of the bridge with him while he painted it. The fact that the work is painted on cardboard with silver sanding on the reverse side suggests that it was produced in Japan. The pencil marks and water stippling indicate that the size of the tower has been reduced, and the composition seems to have been changed to emphasize the expanse of the landscape, even if the presence of the tower has been slightly weakened.
