- 作品解説: サインの部分に1924年の年記がある。この年は大久保作次郎や奥瀬英三らと槐樹社を結成しており、《凧揚》（東京国立近代美術館蔵）も描いている。《凧揚》は牧野の南画風のタッチがよく表れている作品であるが、本作のタッチや木の幹などの描き方と色彩にセザンヌの影響が見て取れる。牧歌的な点景人物は2作品とも共通するが、本作は牧野の表現が変化する直前の作品として貴重だといえる。Description: The artist's signature is dated 1924. In 1924, Makino formed Keijusha with Okubo Sakujiro, Okuse Eizo, and others, and painted "Kite Flying" (owned by the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo). While "Kite Flying" is a work that clearly shows Makino's Nanga touch, the influence of Cézanne can be seen in the touch of this work, as well as in the way the tree trunks and other elements are drawn and colored. The pastoral dotted figures are common to both works, but this work is valuable because it was painted just before the change in Makino's expression.
