- 作品解説: 秋が深まり葉が落ちた木々。その向こうには三日月が見え、ほのかな光の下で牡鹿が雌鹿に出会うべくして出会ったかのような双方の表情である。池上秀畝は花鳥画やこうした動物の表現を得意としていたが、この二匹の鹿に関しては吉祥図として擬人化されているように思われる。Description: Autumn is deepening and the leaves have fallen from the trees. Beyond them, a crescent moon can be seen, and under the faint light, the stag seems to have met the doe as if they were meant to meet. Ikegami Shuho excelled at flower-and-bird paintings and the depiction of animals, but these two deer seem to be anthropomorphized as a good omen.
