Madokoro Akutagawa Saori (芥川 (間所) 紗織, Akutagawa (Madokoro) Saori, 1924-1966) was a Japanese visual artist closely associated with Tatsuo Ikeda, Shigeo Ishii, and On Kawara. Her work is noted for its primitivism and mythological influences and unique dyeing techniques. One of her best known works is Shinwa, kamigami no tanjo (Myth, Birth of Gods) (1956). She did several group exhibitions with these artists, as well as Taizo Yoshinaka, in 1956-7 at Sato Gallery.She was married to composer Yasushi Akutagawa from 1946 and 1958.
